What is counselling?
Counselling often begins with the question: How am I…
Often referred to as the talking cure, counselling is based around two people in a professional relationship where one person is supporting the other person.
Counselling can be regarded as:
“work with people and with relationships which may be developmental, crisis support, psychotherapeutic, guiding or problem solving…The task of counselling is to give the ‘client’ an opportunity to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more satisfyingly and resourcefully.”
