The story of Baobab
The baobab is a native African tree which is one of the oldest and longest living species of tree on earth. It is as strong as the oak, as flexible as the willow and as nourishing as fruit trees.

  • tenacious, being both fire and drought resistant;
  • tenacious, accepting challenges at all levels with consistent follow up support;
  • life giving, with an ability to store water;

  • nourishing, providing food;
  • nourishing, providing fresh ideas and approaches;
  • practical, providing materials for ropes, baskets; and
  • practical, offering effective techniques and working at reasonable cost; and
  • safe, providing shelter.

The founders of The Baobab Centre originate from Africa and their vision was to create an organisation which is as adaptable, useful and life enhancing as the baobab tree.
